Speaker: Eric Johnson – Alliance Health

Eric Johnson is the Crisis and justice support manager at Alliance Health. He has worked there since 2012. Previously, he worked with Wake County Human Services and the Department of Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention. Eric has over 24 years of experience working with people who are justice-involved and have a behavioral health diagnosis. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and his Master’s from Mercyhurst University.

The Crisis Intervention Teams (CIT) program is a community partnership of law enforcement, mental health and addiction professionals, individuals who live with mental illness and/or addiction disorders, their families, and other partners to improve community responses to mental health crises.

Topics to be discussed:

  • What is CIT, and why is it so important?
  • Who is CIT trained, and how long does it take to become trained
  • What topics are covered during CIT training?
  • What is ACORNS, and how does it operate?
  • What is HEART and how is it different than ACORNS?
  • A demonstration of how a CIT-trained person handles a mental health Crisis.
