Angela Lassiter is a Legal Officer and Assistant Clerk for the Wake County Clerk of Superior Court. Her education, training, and previous employment have shaped her advocacy for underrepresented or misunderstood populations. Angela served as special counsel for patients involuntarily admitted to mental health hospitals through the civil commitment process. She
apprenticed with J. Gregory Wallace, a well-regarded N.C. elder law attorney, learning the intricacies of Medicaid, Special Assistance, and Veterans Benefits, and how to align clients with these resources successfully. Angela’s focus has consistently been on guardianship proceedings. In Randolph County, she served as guardian ad litem for competency hearings and continued this role in Wake County, where she developed a curriculum to educate newly appointed guardians and inform the public about alternatives to guardianship. She also established Guardian Advocacy, Inc., a nonprofit organization providing free durable general powers of attorney and healthcare directives.

Before becoming an attorney, Angela worked as a North Carolina Magistrate and Small Claims
Judge for Randolph and Montgomery Counties. She received her law degree from N.C. Central
University in May 2009 and recently attained her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology with a
concentration in Forensic Psychology from Purdue University. She holds two undergraduate
degrees: Forensic Biology from Guilford College and Criminal Justice from Gardner-Webb University.

Angela was raised in Randolph County, NC, by her loving grandparents, Bill and Joy, who
taught her the value of hard work, grace, and kindness in the face of adversity. She is married to
Brad Willson, and they share their home with two bulldogs, Logan and Hank.
