How a Psychiatrist Helps

July 28, 2024 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Hybrid Event

Dr. Krempasky originally hails from Whitwell, a one stop light town in rural Tennessee. She graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA and then returned to Tennessee to attend medical school at East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine. She completed her Psychiatry Residency and served as Chief Resident at Dartmouth- Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.

In her current role as Chief Medical Officer for Mental Health & Well-Being at WakeMed Health and Hospitals in Raleigh, North Carolina, Dr. Krempasky leads the charge to build a continuum of behavioral health care to support a healthier community. She has a deep understanding of the role psychological stress can play in chronic disease states and is passionate about relieving the suffering that results from untreated and undertreated mental illness and addiction.

Before coming to WakeMed, Dr. Krempasky served as the Senior Patient Safety Officer for Mission Health System based in Asheville, NC. In this role, she engaged key physicians as well as other clinical leaders to foster an environment of clinical excellence and a culture of safety across the 800+ bed system.

While she is a notorious early bird and can often be found filling inboxes with coffee-fueled emails in the wee hours of the morning, Dr. Krempasky tries to maintain at least some work/life balance. She is an avid believer in the healing power of nature and can often be found with her husband and 2 daughters hiking up a mountain, paddle boarding through a river or driving across country in the family camper. “
